The Lore of the Void Century

One of the most exciting aspects of the Egghead arc is the deep dive into the lore of the One Piece world. The Void Century—a 100-year gap in recorded history—has been a central mystery since the Alabasta arc. Dr. Vegapunk's research has finally begun to peel back the layers of this enigma. We are learning about an ancient kingdom with technology far surpassing anything currently existing, and a war that shaped the geography and politics of the entire globe. The introduction of the Gorosei (Five Elders) onto the battlefield has also introduced a terrifying new dynamic. For hundreds of episodes, these figures were seen merely as political leaders residing in Mary Geoise. Now, their monstrous transformations and seemingly immortal nature present a threat that even a Yonko like Luffy struggles to combat. Their presence underscores the absolute desperation of the World Government to keep their secrets hidden.
